Éducation nationale : Le bond en avant du système éducatif ivoirien L'année scolaire
The 2024-2025 school year marks a historic turning point for Côte d'Ivoire. Under the leadership of Mariatou Koné , Minister of National Education and Literacy, the country is reaping the benefits of reforms stemming from the National Education and Literacy Conference (EGENA). Between record-breaking performance and accelerated modernization, the Ivorian school system is undergoing a radical transformation.
1. Exam results are rising sharply
The first indicator of this success lies in the statistics of large-scale exams, which show consistent progress:
- CEPE: 86.58% success rate (+3.12 points).
- BEPC: 51.41% success rate (a spectacular increase of +11.23 points ).
- Baccalaureate: 40.15% success rate (+6 points).
2. A qualitative leap in infrastructure
The Ivorian state, supported by international partners (Global Partnership for Education, UNESCO), has invested massively in concrete and equipment:
- Major inaugurations: The higher CAFOP of Anyama (the largest in West Africa) and the Dominique Ouattara High School of Excellence in Sinématiali.
- Structuring programs: PATEB and PRESEB have made it possible to increase the number of classrooms, provide teaching materials and integrate school health into the heart of schools.
3. Strengthening the teaching staff and innovations
To meet growing needs, the government has focused on human capital and inclusion:
- Massive recruitment: 5,000 primary school teachers via the CAFOP and an exceptional recruitment of 2,885 contract teachers for secondary schools.
- Inclusive education: Creation of specific textbooks for children with disabilities and launch of the National Textbook Grant (Bonamas) .
- Well-being and gender: Installation of "Girls rooms" for young girls and strengthening of the fight against pregnancies in schools.
4. Modernized and digital governance
The reform of school management committees and improved financial management now guarantee greater accountability. But the real lever for the future is digital technology:
- Integrated Education Management System (SIGE): For more precise management of staff and resources.
- Digitalization of courses: Deployment of virtual classrooms and success of the "My school at home" platform.
In summary: The 2024-2025 academic year was not just a school year, but the realization of a vision. By combining modern infrastructure, educational support (PNAPAS), and social dialogue, Côte d'Ivoire is building a more efficient, inclusive, and forward-looking school system.
