Journée Mondiale de l'Enfance 2025 : L'UNICEF et la Côte d'Ivoire Renouvellent leur Engagement pour les Droits de l'Enfant
On the eve of World Children’s Day (WCD) 2025, UNICEF Côte d’Ivoire made a strong impression by launching the “Blue Bus” on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Deployed in the communes of Adjamé and Yopougon, this awareness caravan aimed to mobilize the population around fundamental rights and the well-being of children.
Under the powerful theme "My Day, My Rights," the event brought together a high-level platform, including diplomats, government officials, UNICEF ambassadors, and leading figures from the private and civil sectors. The objective was clear: to listen to children's voices and reaffirm the commitment to translating their rights into concrete actions on the ground.
Celebrated every November 20th, World Child Day is a solemn reminder of the imperative to protect and respect the rights of all children.
During speeches in Abidjan, Mr. Jean François Basse , UNICEF Resident Representative, stressed the need to place children at the heart of national policies:
"The future of our children cannot be a mere budget item, a line at the bottom of the page. The future of our children must be the absolute priority of every strategy, of every development plan."
In the same vein, Professor Mariatou Koné , Minister of National Education and Literacy, emphasized collective responsibility:
"It is up to us to raise public awareness and strengthen national mobilization around the protection of children. Therefore, the government is committed to offering every child, wherever they live and whatever their social circumstances, the opportunity to learn, to dream, and to succeed. "
These statements demonstrate the shared commitment between national and international actors to realize children's rights.
UNICEF's work in Côte d'Ivoire is part of the 2021-2025 Cooperation Programme with the government. This strategic partnership aims to improve children's and adolescents' access to quality social services.
Major initiatives have already emerged, including:
On the occasion of World Employment Day 2025, the Minister of Employment and Social Protection, Adama Camara , recalled the significance of the chosen theme:
"Today's theme reflects our collective responsibility . Every child carries within them an inalienable right to dignity, protection, education, and love."
The presence of influential public figures such as Murielle Ahouré-Demps, Nash, Michel Gohou and Max Grades helped to give particular resonance to this message, reminding everyone that the future of young Ivorians depends on the commitment of the entire nation.
