L'ANP renforce les compétences des journalistes sportifs ivoiriens en vue de la CAN

With the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) approaching, which will be held in Morocco from December 21 , the National Press Authority (ANP) has taken the initiative to train Ivorian journalists in charge of media coverage of this major event.

From November 20 to December 18, 2025 , sports media professionals in Ivory Coast will benefit from an intensive training cycle focused on the fundamentals of sports journalism, with a particular emphasis on football.

To guarantee "optimal and balanced" media coverage

The training program was launched on Thursday, November 20, 2025 , at the ANP headquarters in Cocody. At the launch, the institution's president, Samba Koné , emphasized the importance of this initiative. He explained that these sessions aim to "strengthen journalists' skills" to ensure they possess the necessary qualities to guarantee "optimal and balanced media coverage."

Faced with the proliferation of information on digital platforms and social networks, Samba Koné stressed the need for journalists to distinguish themselves through their professionalism .

"This ceremony reminds us how essential excellence is at a time when more and more information providers are improvising. The future of journalism depends on the ability of professionals to master their field in depth," he stated.

According to the president of the ANP, this training is essential to sharpen the critical thinking and analytical skills of journalists.

A comprehensive program spanning nearly 80 hours

Dosso Boubakary , the training program's educational director, specified that this session will accommodate around thirty journalists. They will have to complete nearly 80 hours of training spread over two sessions.

The program will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  1. The national and international sporting context.
  2. Journalistic genres applied to sport.
  3. The technical and regulatory fundamentals.
  4. The responsible use of artificial intelligence in journalism.

This initiative is part of the ANP's desire to raise the level of Ivorian sports journalism so that it is up to the continental challenge represented by the Africa Cup of Nations.
