Le MIRAH dément l’existence d’une taxe de 3 500 FCFA sur la transhumance
The Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources (MIRAH) has formally denied rumors circulating on social media concerning an alleged "pastoral fee" in northern Côte d'Ivoire. These rumors claim that a tax of 3,500 FCFA per head of livestock is being imposed on transhumant herds.
In an official statement, the ministry headed by Sidi Tiémoko Touré clarifies that this practice is not based on any existing regulations . MIRAH emphasizes that work is currently underway to develop a national legal framework governing transhumance and associated fees.
In the meantime, the ministry calls on industry players not to pay any such taxes and invites the public to report any illegal collection attempts to the competent authorities in order to guarantee public order.
