Preventing tragedy during the rainy season

This large-scale operation serves a dual purpose: to clean up public spaces and, above all, to save lives during this period of severe weather.

"As part of the prevention of damage caused by the rainy season and the fight against urban disorder in the municipality of Attécoubé, the town hall will proceed with systematic demolitions of anarchic constructions in order to clean up and improve the living environment of the residents," the municipal summons states.

The municipal authority urges the affected populations to vacate the premises without delay, both for their physical safety and for the preservation of their material goods.

This decision by the municipality comes in a particularly tense atmosphere. The recent torrential rains that struck the Abidjan district have caused the deaths of 59 people , according to the latest government figures.
