Port-Bouët : Les résidents de Campement TP contestent un déguerpissement jugé « illégal »
In Port-Bouët (South Abidjan), tensions are rising in the Campement TP neighborhood (Vridi-Plage). During a press conference held on Friday, June 12, 2026, residents strongly denounced an eviction operation which they believe is being carried out outside the legal framework and based on irregular documents.
According to Bandé Karamoko, spokesperson for the local crisis unit, the dispute pits long-time residents against alleged landowners. The latter are attempting to evict the families from the site, which has been occupied since the 1940s by Public Works (TP) employees and their descendants.
The residents' anger stems from a series of procedures deemed opaque:
Residents are deploring the demolition of homes carried out "without any due process," leaving several families homeless. The crisis team is also pointing to potential complicity within the municipal administration. So far, the parties implicated have made no comment.
The residents' appeal: Faced with this critical situation, the crisis team is directly appealing to the administrative and judicial authorities. It is demanding the immediate opening of an investigation to verify the authenticity of the documents presented, determine responsibility, and find an emergency solution to rehouse the affected families.
