Sécurité routière : Le bilan musclé de l'opération « Tolérance Zéro »

Launched in early March 2026, the "Zero Tolerance on the Roads" operation is stepping up its efforts. Under the leadership of Minister Amadou Koné, law enforcement is taking a zero-tolerance approach to restoring road safety throughout Côte d'Ivoire.

A strategic deployment

The Directorate of Special Road Safety Police (PSSR), headed by Divisional Commissioner Major Touré Abdul Kader, has deployed patrols across urban areas and major national highways (particularly towards San Pedro, Man, Noé, and Abengourou). Between March 1st and 17th, the results demonstrate increased surveillance.

  1. Blood alcohol level: Out of 829 drivers tested, 5 had a level exceeding 0.8 g/l. They were immediately brought before the courts.
  2. Vehicles impounded: 167 vehicles were seized for various offences (failure to have a technical inspection, lack of insurance or dangerous physical condition).
  3. Two-wheelers: 208 vehicles ended up impounded for not wearing a helmet.

The operation also resulted in penalties for overloading goods, bald tires and the use of non-compliant license plates.
