The village of Assaoufoué , located a few kilometers from Bongouanou, was the scene of a triple tragedy of unprecedented violence on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. A local planter, identified as BT César , took the lives of his wife and her older sister before taking his own life.

The origin of the tragedy: An accusation of incest

It all began with the revelations of a young girl, born from the planter's previous marriage. She confided in her stepmother, Dame Brou, that her father had attempted to abuse her. Following her stepmother's advice, the teenager alerted her maternal family, thus spreading the information throughout the community.

The matter was quickly brought before the traditional authorities (the elders of Kangandi). According to testimonies:

2. Deeply affected by this disgrace, the man reportedly returned to his camp in Sicobois Blanc to retrieve a 12-gauge shotgun .

An outbreak of violence

Back at their marital home in Assaoufoué, an argument broke out between the man and his wife. The farmer then used his weapon:

2. His sister-in-law , who rushed to help after hearing the explosion, was also fatally wounded.
3. The assailant then turned the weapon on himself and took his own life.
