A new case of domestic sexual violence has come to light in the Gôh region thanks to citizen vigilance. The swift intervention of protection services and the justice system enabled the young victim to be rescued and the suspect to be arrested.

A life-saving report via 1308

In May 2026, the 1308 helpline received a crucial call. A community worker reported that a young girl was being subjected to repeated sexual abuse within her own home.

Upon receiving the alert, the Gagnoa platform for combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) immediately mobilized:

1. Immediate intervention: The child was listened to by qualified professionals.
2. Safety measures: The victim was removed from their family environment and referred to specialized services for appropriate support.

The suspect has been arrested, justice is underway

The case was quickly forwarded to the Public Prosecutor. The victim's father, the main suspect, was arrested by law enforcement and placed in pretrial detention. The legal proceedings are currently underway.

This outcome illustrates the effectiveness of the child protection chain when each link functions: from citizen reporting to judicial reaction, via the action of social services.
