📢 Violences à Kpapékou : Le président de la jeunesse rétablit les faits suite à l'agression du chef de village
Armel Dacoury Biego, presenting himself as president of the Kpapékou Youth (a village in the Gagnoa department), published a statement on the Fromager 24 Facebook page to clarify the series of tragic events that have recently occurred. These incidents are part of a context of regional tensions, echoing the unfortunate events that took place in Nahio (Issia department) during the boycott of the presidential election on October 25th.
While traveling to Abidjan for administrative matters on Sunday, November 2nd, Armel Dacoury BIEGO was urgently summoned back by his vice-president. The latter informed him of the arrest and violent assault of their Secretary General, Mr. BAHOUA Serge Alain, known as "the Emperor ," by the National Police.
Immediately alerted, the youth leader contacted the Ouragahio police commissioner for an explanation. The commissioner denied the involvement of his officers, suggesting instead that the Gagnoa police had intervened, and promised to investigate further and provide an update.
Following the arrest and violence suffered by their Secretary General, young people from the village, "driven by anger and indignation," attacked the village chief. This attack resulted in significant material damage, including the burning of his home and his hideout .
Armel Dacoury Biego claims to have immediately used his influence to control the situation. He urged the young people "to exercise restraint, to cease all forms of violence, and to prioritize dialogue with the authorities" to understand the precise reasons for the arrest.
He was also approached by several authorities, including the Brigade Commander of the Gendarmerie in Ouragahio and the National and Regional Directorate of Solidarity and Social Cohesion , all eager to facilitate a peaceful resolution of the matter.
At the same time, the youth president contacted the village chief to ensure his safety and that of his family. He confirmed that the chief was safe, placed "under the supervision of the Ouragahio police" .
In conclusion, Armel Dacoury BIEGO reaffirms that the youth of Kpapékou remain "mobilized and determined to restore calm and promote dialogue for a rapid return to peace" in the village.
