Amérique : Après une pré-saison peu convaincante, le Français a été libéré par les Cleveland Cavaliers.

Killian Hayes, 24, will not start the 2025-26 NBA season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The French point guard was released by the franchise after a disappointing training camp and three lackluster preseason games (averaging 4 points, 1.3 assists, and 1 steal, shooting 28.6% in 10 minutes per game).

With no two-way contract available, Cleveland has decided to part ways with him, as confirmed by journalist Mike Scotto. Trained at Cholet Basket and selected seventh overall in the 2020 draft by Detroit, Hayes is struggling to live up to the expectations placed in him. After an inconsistent stint with the Pistons, then a brief stint in Brooklyn, he decided to stay in the United States this summer to try to relaunch his career.

The American adventure isn't over for the Lakeland, Florida native, however. Hayes is expected to join the G-League, the Cleveland Charge, a Cavaliers affiliate, to continue his development and remain visible to NBA franchises.

Despite offers from Europe, notably from ASVEL, the Frenchman wants to continue believing in his potential across the Atlantic. A creative leader with good game sense and a solid defense, he still hopes to convince a team that he can be a reliable contributor. This is another step in a journey strewn with pitfalls, but still driven by the same ambition: to establish himself permanently in the major American league.
