The Professional Football League (LFP) unveiled, this Friday November 7, 2025, the compositions of the preliminary rounds of the National Cup, thus marking the start of the 2025 edition.

Format and Participants

This year, the competition will be structured around two preliminary rounds to determine the qualifiers. The stakes are high, as the eventual winner will secure direct qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup .

In total, 68 teams will compete in this initial phase to try and achieve the feat:

1. 40 clubs from Division 3 .
2. 28 clubs from Ligue 2 .

This information was officially confirmed by the LFP from the headquarters of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).

Key Date and Sanctions

According to Nady Adaman, Administrative Secretary of the LFP, the first round of these preliminaries is scheduled to start at the end of January 2026 .

To ensure the smooth running of the competition, the LFP reiterated the strict rules regarding forfeits:

"Any case of forfeit , even if reported 72 hours before the match, will be penalized with a fine of 500,000 CFA francs . In the event of a forfeit [without prior notice], the offending club will have to pay the same fine and reimburse the expenses incurred by the opposing team ," specified Nady Adaman.
