The Treichville Sports Palace throbbed to the rhythm of the orange ball on Thursday, May 14, 2026. For the National Cup finals, the Ivorian Basketball Federation (FIBB) delivered a high-level spectacle in a vibrant atmosphere. On the court, the hierarchy remained unchanged: Jeunesse Club d'Abidjan (JCA Kings) in the men's competition and Friends Basketball Association (FBA Gladiators) in the women's competition brilliantly retained their titles.

Under the leadership of President Moussa Diarra, who fits perfectly into the lineage of his predecessor, the organization pulled out all the stops to attract a massive audience.

Men: JCA's experience overcomes ASA (66-59)

Facing a formidable team from Association Sportive d'Adjamé (ASA), the Kings had to dig deep to turn the tide and win by a score of 66 to 59. A victory marked by tactical maturity.

Stéphane Konaté, head coach of the JCA Kings:
“I think experience made the difference. We came back from the BAL (Basketball Africa League) with a solid foundation. Sure, we finished last there, but it wasn't a failure: that experience allowed us to win this game today. The most important thing was to stay focused.”

Women's: Three-game winning streak for the FBA Gladiators (81-73)

In the women's competition, FBA's supremacy was undisputed. Despite a strong response from SOA, Safi Traoré's team overcame the deficit to claim their third consecutive National Cup (81-73). Led by key players such as Solange Ebondji, Laetitia Sahié, Flora Ouraga, and Tolo Morgane, the "Gladiators" dominated the match.

Safiatou Traoré, first vice-president of FBA:
“A huge thank you to everyone involved in basketball. We are savoring this third consecutive trophy, but we are keeping our heads because the playoffs are approaching. This kind of final should encourage the public to support the federation, which is experiencing real growth momentum.”

The financial aspect of the final

Beyond the sporting glory and medals, the National Cup finals proved financially rewarding for the clubs:

Status Financial reward
Winners (JCA Kings & FBA) 3,000,000 FCFA
Finalists (ASA & SOA) 1,000,000 FCFA
