Décès en Allemagne de l’ex gardien de buts des Éléphants, Digbeu Pascal alias Bodo Maïer ( Famille)
Bodo Maier, the former goalkeeper of the Ivory Coast national team, died on October 7, 2025, Abidjan.net learned from sources close to the deceased.
Digbeu Pascal, his real name, came from his native Daloa (central west of Ivory Coast) to Ferké (North) where he was adopted.
From the Bromakoté neighborhood team to the Kiyali modern college, he roused the crowds with his talents as a football goalkeeper. This is how, from US Cannes in Ferkessédougou, he ended up at CO Bouaflé, then at ASEC, Stade and Stella in Abidjan.
He finished this journey with the national team, the Elephants of Ivory Coast, with the nickname Bodo Maier, like his idol, the goalkeeper of the German team at the time: Sepp Maier!
No wonder he found himself after the CAN '92 in the country of his idol: Germany.
To study there, teach at a university in Freiburg, start a family, create a football school, the SEBO FOOTBALL SCHULE, and help his parents in the village by building a school, a foundation and a residence.
His wife Monika Brüninghaus and his family remain inconsolable.
