Le Trésor Public actualise la grille des amendes forfaitaires

The Directorate General of the Treasury and Public Accounting (DGTCP) is taking a further step in regulating road traffic. Through the introduction of new fixed-penalty notices , the financial administration is clarifying the rules for all drivers operating within Côte d'Ivoire.

The objective is clear: to harmonize sanctions, eliminate ambiguity during checks and, ultimately, drastically reduce road insecurity.

📊 The new scale of offences

The DGTCP has established a strict hierarchy of fines, graduated according to the dangerousness of the behaviors observed.

1. Basic offenses: 2,000 FCFA

This category concerns so-called "minor" but frequent breaches:

  1. Driving on the left or failing to respect a roundabout.
  2. Minor speeding (between 1 and 5 km/h).
  3. Vehicle lighting fault.
  4. Failure to wear a seatbelt or helmet (two-wheeler).

2. Intermediate offenses: 3,000 FCFA

The price increases as soon as the risk increases or the inconvenience becomes obvious:

  1. Speeding by between 5 and 10 km/h.
  2. Misuse of the horn in a prohibited area.
  3. Unjustified traffic on the emergency lane.
  4. Obstruction of the driver's field of vision.

3. Risky behaviors: 5,000 FCFA

Here, we penalize offenses that directly hinder fluidity and safety:

  1. Speeding by 10 to 20 km/h.
  2. Refusal to move to the right or failure to respect priority rules.
  3. Sudden and unsignaled changes of direction.
  4. Parking deemed dangerous.

4. Serious offenses: 10,000 FCFA

This is the maximum fixed penalty for traffic violations, targeting the most accident-prone behaviors:

  1. Speeding in excess of 20 km/h.
  2. Crossing a solid line or dangerous overtaking.
  3. Using a phone while driving.
  4. Refusal to comply with law enforcement.

Why this change now?

For the Public Treasury, represented by Mr. Ahoussi Arthur, the aim is to set the record straight . By publishing this official list, the State limits the risk of misinterpretation during roadside checks and empowers road users.

The message is clear: Ignorance of the law is no longer an excuse. In a context of increasingly dense traffic, particularly in Greater Abidjan, strict enforcement is the rule to protect lives.

💡 Key takeaways

Now, every driver knows precisely what they risk. This transparency is a weapon against corruption and an educational tool to encourage renewed road safety awareness. The administration has communicated; the ball is now in the motorists' court.
