She borrowed the family car to go shopping. So far, so good. Except the driver is only... 8 years old. The story happened in the United States , in Ohio, this Sunday, reports Today.com .
Her parents called police around 9 a.m. after noticing the girl's absence, having last been seen two hours earlier. Investigators were able to see through a neighbor's surveillance camera that the child had driven off in her parents' 2020 Nissan Rogue.
A search was therefore launched in the area. The car was eventually found in the parking lot of a Target supermarket. According to the police report, the store is located just over 11 miles southwest of the child's home. Google Maps estimates that the fastest route, following the average speed limit, would take an adult driver about 25 minutes.
The police discovered the girl, safe and sound, inside the supermarket. "We let her finish her frappuccino. We're not mean," joked the Bedford police on their Facebook page. A story that, thankfully, has a happy ending. According to the child, she only bumped into a mailbox on her way to the supermarket.
