Succès au Sénégal : Plus de 1 200 enfants des rues secourus en 2025

DAKAR, SENEGAL – Significant progress has been made in child protection in Senegal. More than 1,200 children were removed from the streets in 2025 in four key regions (Dakar, Saint-Louis, Thiès and Kaolack), thanks to the efforts of the Institutional Support Project for the Child Protection System in Senegal (PAISPES) .

The information was confirmed by Mbayang Madjiguène Diop , coordinator of the Child Protection Support Unit (CAPE), during a mid-term evaluation workshop of the project held in Mbour.

🏡 Reintegration and Strengthening

According to Ms. Diop, these operations, carried out in collaboration with the departmental child protection committees, have allowed many children to:

  1. To return to their families .
  2. To reintegrate into the school system with positive results.

PAISPES also achieved a major milestone by rehabilitating the Gindi center . This center is now intended to become a benchmark structure for all of West Africa , aiming to train social workers and to welcome children in distress or at risk.

Representing the Minister of Family, Social Action and Solidarity, Omar Samb , technical advisor, welcomed these encouraging results. He nevertheless reiterated that major challenges remain in completely eradicating this scourge.
