Mali : Assimi Goïta place l'année 2026 sous le signe de la souveraineté énergétique

The President of the Transition, Army General Assimi Goïta, addressed the Nation on December 31, 2025. In a speech combining reflection and ambition, he took stock of a challenging year 2025 that revealed the strength of the Malian people, while outlining a clear roadmap for 2026.

2025: The test of truth and resilience

The Head of State began his address by paying tribute to the civilian and military victims. He praised the exemplary dignity of the Malian people in the face of the crises, citing in particular:

  1. Major disruptions in the energy sector.
  2. Sabotage of fuel convoys.
  3. International pressure and disinformation campaigns.

According to the President, these challenges have only confirmed the "irreversible" choice of sovereignty, supported by the strategic vision Mali Kura 2063 .

Security and diplomacy: Anchoring within the AES

Security remains the cornerstone of government action. Assimi Goïta emphasized:

  1. The FAMa's rise to power thanks to the reconstruction of the defense apparatus.
  2. Regional solidarity , reaffirming that Mali's future lies within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) , in close collaboration with Burkina Faso and Niger.
  3. Peace through dialogue , prioritizing endogenous solutions, as illustrated by the new Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation.

Governance: Transparency and political reforms

General Goïta reiterated his firm stance regarding the management of public affairs. The fight against corruption and impunity remains a priority. For 2026, he announced a crucial step: the continuation of consultations on reforming the framework of political parties , in order to consolidate the gains of the National Refoundation Conference.

Economy: Heading towards industrialization by 2026

Despite a hostile environment, the Malian economy is showing encouraging indicators (sustained growth and controlled debt). Based on this observation, the President has officially declared 2026 as "the year of energy sovereignty" .

This new direction is based on three pillars:

  1. Energy independence to put an end to power outages.
  2. Accelerated industrialization of the country.
  3. Local transformation of natural resources, particularly minerals.
“Lasting peace is built through dialogue, truth, and trust among Malians.” — General Assimi Goïta
