«Passeports diplomatiques à Macky et sa famille…» : La réaction officielle du Gouvernement gambien
The Gambian government, through its Ministry of Information, formally denied the allegations. It "categorically refutes the recent allegations by a Senegalese journalist and politician that Gambia has issued 20,000 diplomatic passports, including to family members and former ministers of former Senegalese President Macky Sall."
In its press release reviewed by Seneweb, the Gambian government states that neither Macky Sall nor any member of his family has ever applied for or obtained a Gambian passport, regardless of the category. For the government, these claims are "totally false, baseless, and a deliberate attempt to sow misunderstanding and create unjustified tensions between the two sister nations."
The Gambian Ministry of Information clarified that the issuance of diplomatic passports is strictly governed by established policies and procedures that ensure transparency and accountability. These passports are granted exclusively to Gambian diplomats and their spouses, senior government officials, and others, it said.
