Abou Bamba sonne la fin de l’impunité pour les pollueurs lors du lancement de la QNEC 2026

The Minister of the Environment and Ecological Transition, Abou Bamba , officially launched the 2026 National Environment and Climate Fortnight (QNEC) this Friday, May 8, in Abidjan. Under the theme "Eco-responsibility and ecological transition," this edition marks a turning point with the introduction of "Large-Scale Projects," a series of nationwide initiatives.

A firm message: "Polluter-Pays"

In his address, the minister emphasized the government's vision: economic growth must no longer come at the expense of nature. He specifically promised stricter enforcement of environmental regulations.

"The government will be firm in its enforcement. All those who have polluted will pay. It is not right that the community should bear the cost of cleanup for damage caused by individuals."

Innovations for the 2026 edition

The QNEC, which will be held from June 3 to 19 , aims to be more ambitious and concrete. Key new features include:

  1. Electric mobility: Presented as a lever to reduce transport costs and the price of food products.
  2. Valuing natural capital: Sustainably exploiting ecosystems (marine, mountain, coastal) to create local wealth.
  3. "Climate Fridays": A new tradition to perpetuate environmental commitment.

A program deployed across the entire territory

The chairman of the organizing committee, Diarra Youssouf , unveiled an agenda full of symbolic and strategic actions:

Date / Location Theme / Event
Bingerville World Environment Day: "Let's treat the solution, not the pollution."
Grand-Lahou Ocean Day and inauguration of the sandbar (OAKA Project).
Grand-Béréby Celebrating biodiversity and the success of protecting sea turtles.
Sinématiali Combating desertification and illegal gold mining.
Bouaké Local initiatives within local communities.

Towards an eco-citizen identity

The ambition of this two-week period goes beyond the event itself. The ministry wants to institutionalize the QNEC with its own visual and sound identity, as well as a mascot to be unveiled in the future.

In closing the ceremony, Abou Bamba urged every resident to become an "eco-Ivorian," thus linking the nation's destiny to its capacity for climate resilience. The "Ivoire Eco Awards" will be presented at the end of the program to recognize the most exemplary businesses and citizens.
