Paris : Un incendie meurtrier ravage un immeuble du IXe arrondissement
A tragic fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in a building on Rue du Faubourg Montmartre , in the heart of Paris. The toll is heavy: one dead and several injured , including three people in critical condition.
The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the seven-story building. The flames quickly spread to the fifth floor, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Although the fire is now out, the building remains under close surveillance by firefighters to eliminate any risk of it reigniting.
An investigation has been opened by the Paris prosecutor's office and entrusted to the police station of the 9th arrondissement. Experts will have to determine the origin of the fire as well as the exact circumstances of the death.
