USA/Vermont : À 14 ans, il brigue le poste de Gouverneur
While most teenagers his age are preoccupied with exams or their next Instagram post, 14-year-old high school student Dean Roy has much bigger ambitions. He just made history by becoming the youngest candidate for governor of Vermont.
Aware of the barriers imposed by the traditional Democratic-Republican contest, Dean chose an alternative path: the creation of his own party, named "Freedom and Unity." This strategy allows him to officially appear on the ballot this November.
His objective? Less immediate victory than the awakening of consciences.
"I know it may sound crazy, but look at those in charge. They've been there forever, and it's still not working," he posted on his social media.
This candidacy is possible thanks to a legal loophole specific to Vermont. Unlike most American states, which require candidates to be at least 30 years old to lead:
Far from being a simple schoolboy prank, Dean Roy has delved into substantive issues. He places housing and the cost of living at the heart of his concerns, believing these to be the major challenges for the citizens of his state.
For him, success will not be measured by the number of votes, but by his ability to challenge the established order. His message is clear: young people no longer want to wait their turn. "The future is now," he asserts with conviction.
