Vietnam : la tempête Kalmaegi fait cinq morts et ravage le centre du pays
Hanoi, November 7, 2025 – Central Vietnam was severely impacted overnight from November 6 to 7 by Typhoon Kalmaegi , the thirteenth cyclone of the season in the East Sea. The provisional death toll stands at at least five, with three people missing and significant material damage reported in several provinces.
According to Vietnamese authorities, the provinces of Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, and Gia Lai are among the hardest hit. Violent winds, reaching speeds of over 120 km/h , tore off roofs, uprooted trees, and downed power lines. More than a million homes were left without electricity , while roads and bridges were damaged , isolating several rural communities.
Emergency services and the army have been mobilized to evacuate residents from flooded areas and distribute emergency aid . Torrential rains, estimated at between 150 and 400 mm , have triggered landslides in some mountainous areas, complicating access for rescue workers.
Initial estimates indicate losses exceeding 7 trillion Vietnamese dong , equivalent to several hundred million dollars. The government has announced emergency aid for the hardest-hit provinces to expedite relief and recovery efforts.
This storm comes just weeks after a series of heavy rains that had already weakened the region. Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant against the risk of further flooding and to follow safety instructions.
