Toumodi : Un Duel Électoral Sous Haute Tension

As the legislative elections approach, the city of Toumodi has become the epicenter of a fierce political confrontation between the RHDP (ruling party) and the PDCI-RDA (opposition).

  1. The RHDP offensive: Candidate Raymonde Goudou displayed her strength at her closing rally. Supported by government heavyweights like Amédée Kouakou and Anne Oulotto, the pro-government press ( Le Patriote , Le Rassemblement ) claims that the party has "sealed off" the area.
  2. The PDCI's response: Hervé Aliali has received support from historical figures within the party, notably Maurice Kakou Guikahué. Opposition-affiliated newspapers ( Le Nouveau Réveil , Dernière Heure Monde ) predict an "undeniable victory" under the leadership of Tidjane Thiam.

2. Epstein case: The PDCI denies rumors about Thiam

The political climate is also marked by a controversy surrounding Tidjane Thiam . The president of the PDCI-RDA is the target of allegations of links to the Epstein affair.

  1. Firm defense: The press close to the PDCI denounces a campaign of denigration and "gross lies" orchestrated by the "labs of the RHDP", assuring that Thiam is in no way involved in this case.

3. Economy: Record Performance on the Markets

Ivory Coast confirms its financial strength with major announcements regarding the management of its debt and budget.

Indicator Amount Impact
Eurobond (International Market) 715 billion FCFA 2026 budget funding.
Domestic debt (Private sector) 1,556.8 billion FCFA Release of funds to boost business competitiveness.

The government daily newspaper Fraternité Matin and Soir Info welcome this "big deal" which strengthens the confidence of international investors and cleans up public finances.

4. Security: Alert at the Northern Border

The shadow of terrorism looms over the country's northern borders. Based on a Crisis Group report, the newspaper Le Sursaut is raising the alarm about the presence of JNIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims).

The main jihadist group in the Sahel appears to be increasing its maneuvers to move closer to Ivorian territory, imposing increased vigilance on the defense and security forces.
