Cap sur 2030 : Le Ministre Pierre Dimba appelle à une mobilisation citoyenne contre le paludisme

On the occasion of World Malaria Day , celebrated on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Anyama-Adjamé, the Minister of Health, Pierre Dimba, made a passionate appeal to the population. Under the slogan " Ending malaria: now is possible. Let's act now ," the Ivorian government reaffirmed its ambition to move from simply managing the disease to its total elimination by 2030.

A strategic turning point towards elimination

For the minister, the success of this transition rests on a single pillar: citizen engagement . Pierre Dimba stressed that the fight cannot be solely medical; it must become a synergy of daily actions.

"Individual and collective commitment remains the key to sustainably reversing the trend and achieving the 'Zero Malaria' goal," he declared to the people of Anyama.

Spectacular progress in Ivory Coast

The report presented during this celebration testifies to a historic step forward in the country:

  1. Mortality decline: The number of deaths fell from 1,534 in 2022 to just 127 in 2025 .
  2. Increased prevention: The rate of use of impregnated mosquito nets has climbed to 81% .
  3. Medical innovations: Success of seasonal chemoprevention for 3 million children and effective introduction of the malaria vaccine since 2025.

The ongoing challenges

Despite these victories, vigilance remains essential. Malaria still accounts for a third of medical consultations in Côte d'Ivoire and remains the leading cause of morbidity among children.

Globally, WHO figures for 2024 highlight the urgent need for action: 282 million cases and 610,000 deaths , primarily affecting sub-Saharan Africa.

The call to action: become an "Ambassador" of the fight

To consolidate these gains, Pierre Dimba urges every citizen to adopt simple sanitation habits:

  1. Eliminate stagnant water.
  2. Maintaining public and private spaces.
  3. Use mosquito nets and other preventative measures consistently.

The WHO representative, Lucien Manga, praised Ivory Coast's " health sovereignty " and its respect for its financial commitments to the Global Fund, positioning the country as a regional leader in the production of strategic data to defeat the epidemic.
