L'ogre Zijin Mining s'empare de l'or africain : un rachat à 3,4 milliards d'euros

Le paysage minier africain tremble sous l'impulsion de Pékin. Le colosse chinois Zijin Mining vient d'officialiser une offensive d'envergure en rachetant le groupe canadien Allied Gold pour environ 28 milliards de yuans (soit 3,4 milliards d’euros).

Cette acquisition massive permet à Zijin de consolider sa position de leader mondial alors que l'once d'or atteint des sommets historiques, dépassant désormais les 5 000 dollars.

Un empire étendu du Mali à l'Éthiopie

À travers sa filiale Zijin Gold, récemment cotée à Hong Kong, le groupe chinois met la main sur un portefeuille d'actifs stratégiques :

Mali et Côte d'Ivoire : Prise de contrôle de sites déjà en pleine production.
Éthiopie : Acquisition d'un projet d'envergure dont l'exploitation doit débuter en 2026.

La stratégie du « coffre-fort » africain

Dans un climat mondial instable, la Chine sécurise ses arrières. Ce rachat n'est pas une simple opération financière, mais une manœuvre géopolitique visant à garantir des réserves d'or à long terme. Déjà solidement implanté en RDC et au Ghana, Zijin confirme que l'Afrique reste le terrain de jeu privilégié de sa croissance "tous azimuts".

Des enjeux sous haute surveillance

Si cette opération souligne le retour en force de la Chine sur le marché des métaux précieux, elle soulève également des points de friction :

Contrôle étatique : Le Canada, dont Allied Gold est originaire, surveille de très près ces cessions de ressources naturelles à des puissances étrangères.
Souveraineté et Écologie : Le débat sur la dépendance économique des pays hôtes et l'impact environnemental des méthodes extractives chinoises est relancé.

En bref : En rachetant Allied Gold, Zijin Mining ne se contente pas d'acheter des mines ; il achète une assurance contre l'inflation et renforce l'hégémonie chinoise sur le secteur extractif africain.
